April 1st, Ripple will once again unlock 1 billion XRP. What will happen to the price?

On April 1st, the company Ripple, which develops the XRP Ledger registry, will unlock 1 billion XRP tokens worth $628.5 million. This is another sale by Ripple, which occurs every month and may negatively affect the price of XRP in the coming weeks.

Since 2017, Ripple has been unlocking 1 billion tokens from escrow accounts, doing so on the first day of each month. April marks the beginning of a new era of XRP inflation, as in recent years the company has been using different accounts.

Up until now, according to XRPScan data, the company has been using the “Ripple (22)” and “Ripple (23)” accounts.

Now, the “Ripple (10)” account comes into play, which will unlock 100 million and 400 million XRP, and the “Ripple (11)” account, which will carry out two other unlocks — 200 million and 300 million tokens. What happened after Ripple’s unlock in March On March 1st, 1 billion XRP was unlocked from the escrow accounts Ripple (22) and Ripple (23). Later, Ripple reserved 200 million tokens for the March sale, and the rest were relocked into escrow accounts until July and August 2027.

However, in March, the company spent 240 million XRP from its treasury account “Ripple (1)”, using old reserves. The sale was conducted in two batches, and all tokens were sent to the same address “rP4X2…Kxv3”. It turned out that on March 1st, Ripple sent 200 million XRP to its reserves. Additionally, in the payment protocol, there was one transaction for 100 million tokens on March 5th and one for 140 million XRP on March 13th.

Analysis of XRP price amid sales It is worth noting how previous Ripple sales have affected the price of XRP. The chart below shows all XRP sales since the beginning of the year, broken down by day.

Interestingly, only two out of eight days had a positive price impact. However, even these “green” days were marked by modest gains, while the negative days had much more impressive consequences.
