Who knows how crypto game Nyan Heroes will do in the long run, but developer 9 Lives Interactive is optimistic based on the responses to the limited pre-alpha launch on the Epic Games Store.
More than 200,000 people downloaded Nyan Heroes in just two weeks after it was available on the popular online game store, placing it in the top 30 most popular games (as reported by 9 Lives Interactive, formerly Rude Robot Studios). It was also included in Epic Games Store’s list of top upcoming games to wishlist.
“Nyan Heroes” had its “run-in” from March 26 through April 9, according to the developer.
The game is a shooter with cat characters controlling “furs” and is built on the Unreal Engine 5. The present build of the game does not include NFTs, but players can purchase, sell, and trade in-game assets.
By the beginning of next year, 9 Lives Interactive hopes to have the complete game out on PC. The ability to personalize one’s gameplay and trade in-game assets will be available to players in due course. But Fu claims that “Nyan Heroes” will continue to exist independently of NFTs, so players who prefer not to engage with them can enjoy the game without any blockchain-related hassles.
Nine Lives Interactive is pleased with the pre-alpha version’s results overall, especially since many of the game’s downloaders had no prior experience with Web3.
In light of the positive reception the pre-alpha version received, Fu has announced that “Nyan Heroes” will be re-released on the Epic Games Store in the coming weeks, allowing even more players to enjoy the game.
Epic Games’ online shop has recently gained access to pre-alpha builds of several currently-in-development crypto games, including Shrapnel, Illuvium, and Star Atlas.
