Star Comedian Kevin Hart Sells His BAYC NFT at 76% Discount

The non-fungible token #9258 from the renowned Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection, owned by American comedian Kevin Hart, has been sold for 13.65 ETH (approximately $47,000). This event marks a significant price drop of 76% compared to its initial value.

According to online sources, Hart acquired this NFT in January 2022 for 79.5 ETH (equivalent to $200,000 at the time of purchase). Thus, it’s noteworthy to observe a substantial decrease in the asset’s value.

Interestingly, the comedian made the purchase through MoonPay, a service specializing in working with celebrities and assisting them in NFT investments. Among other notable personalities who have utilized this service are Madonna, Justin Bieber, and TV host Jimmy Fallon.

In December of last year, the company Scott+Scott filed a lawsuit on behalf of BAYC and ApeCoin (APE) holders against Yuga Labs and MoonPay over alleged undisclosed collaborations with stars.

According to DappRadar, the BAYC collection holds the top position in trading volume over the past 30 days, reaching $123 million. However, over the past month, the minimum token price has dropped by 18% to $46,600.

In February of this year, a rare non-fungible token BAYC #1726 was sold for 275 ETH (approximately $688,000 at the time of the transaction). This asset belonged to an NFT collector with the pseudonym franklinisbored, who was one of the main holders of the collection.

Recall that in August 2023, NFT BAYC #8585 was acquired for a record-low amount of 153 ETH (approximately $254,000), and its value dropped by 80% over 11 months.

In July of the same year, token BAYC #3953 was sold for 200 ETH (~$372,000 at the time of the transaction), which is significantly lower compared to previous peak figures.
