As the European Championship group stage came to a close, the Georgian national team emerged victorious over Portugal.
According to RBC-Ukraine, this is in reference to the fight results.
Group F, third round of the 2024 European Championship
Georgia defeated Portugal 2-0.
Goals scored: 2 (Kvaratskhelia), 57 (Mikautadze, penalty kick)
Turkey vs. Czech Republic – 1:2
Assists from Soucek (66), Calhanoglu (51), and Tosun (90+4)
Barak was sent off for 20 yards (H, second yellow card).
The Portuguese were taken aback by Sakartvelo’s rapid goal. After an interception in the second minute, Mikautadze sent the ball to Kvaratskhelia on the left, and the latter expertly beat Koshta. Ronaldo, Conceição, and Felix were unable to beat Mamardashvili before halftime despite the Pyrenees’ siege on the Georgian team’s penalty area.
The Portuguese squad kept up their assault in the second half, and Georgia found the back of the net once more. The referee reviewed the incident involving Antonio Silva’s foul in the 57th minute, and Mikautadze converted the resulting penalty. Roberto Martinez’s squad persisted in harassing the white defense, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
The Czech Lions were still a small minority in Hamburg midway through the first half. In just ten minutes, Barak got his second mustard plaster after stepping on his opponent’s foot. Despite having a numerical advantage, the Turkish team failed to capitalize on it before halftime.
The goal came from Calhanoglu for Vincenzo Montella’s squad early in the second half. The attack was completed by the star midfielder, who headed a cross from Yilmaz powerfully into the corner. Nevertheless, the Czech Republic salvaged a draw despite being in the minority thanks to a goal by Soucek following a Hora shot that was blocked. Tosun, though, stole the win for Turkey in the 88th minute after receiving a pass from Kekcu, dribbled the ball around, and fired a shot into the far corner.
Consequently, the Turkish team came in second place with the same heritage as Portugal, and Portugal won Quartet F with 6 points. However, after finishing in third place, the Georgian team advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to four points. With just one point, the Czech Republic returns home.
Incidentally, the Ukrainian national team exited Euro 2024 after playing to a draw with Belgium earlier.
